The Canton Charter Academy kindergarten program is a half-day program and is academically challenging. The curriculum is centered on the Michigan Standards and Benchmarks. Much emphasis is placed upon the development of reading and mathematical skills. Students begin to read with the Open Court Reading program, which is phonics-based. Students are encouraged to utilize the Accelerated Reader Program to increase fluency and comprehension. Math is integrated through the use of manipulatives and projects. Specials are introduced to kindergartners through music, art and physical education rotations. |
